What do you know about addiction, in particular, addiction to drugs? You have seen it in cinema and sometimes you would have read about it as well. But do you really know what addiction to drugs is? What exactly it means to try and get rehabilitated? What and how are these rehabilitation centers? What kind of a fight a rehab patient puts up against the temptation to do it again? Just once? In a small quantity that wouldn’t hurt?

Yes, probably you could have read and seen it on TV or in movies but, this book takes it to next level. Intense, unpredictable, explicit and face-the-truth-in-your-face story of Mr. James Frey during the days of his addiction as well as during the rehab, ‘A Million Little Pieces’ is a true account (with a bit of creative freedom) of James Frey’s life.

Though there are many rumors of the facts being embellished, the book makes for an engaging read. It talks of all the troubles an addict goes through, his rub off with the law enforcing bodes, criminal charges against him and despite all these he manages to go on. My words may not do enough justice to the story, so let me quote few of my friends’ take on this book.

“The book made me laugh, made me ill, it shocked and saddened me, and I cried at the end. It made me appreciate NOT having to go through what James Frey went through”

“A Million Little Pieces is an uncommonly genuine account of a life destroyed and a life reconstructed. It is also the introduction of a bold and talented literary voice.”

I will let the book do rest of the talking, go get hold of it for if you are a connoisseur of good writing, you will never regret having bought this book or having read this book.

Well said, this book is bold and real( to some extent) because the author James Frey claimed that this book is his story but later it was found out the facts were embellished :)

dunno.... if d book is abt a guy who goes onto drugs and how he gets off it....isnt endorsing his work making a hero out of him??? isnt dat wrong???? d idea that i buy his book and b instrumental in making him a millionaire or his book a bestseller kinda pricks me....n is it really needed?...r v so naive?

My cause is not to help him sell the book. The idea was to share a good piece of literature, so that book lovers can cherish.
The book helps people who are drug addicts. Shows them that rehabilitation works provided you are determined and showcases the life before and after the rehabilitation for the people to see and decide for themselves.

Again, it depends on how you see things :)
I personally believe that it is easier to appreciate something good only if you know what something bad is.
It doesn't mean that you have to get yourself into bad things and get first hand experience. You could gauge them based on someone else's experience. And it is here books like this one come into picture

COM Surrogate has stopped working

I started pessimistically with Windows vista and as my mom says, things go from bad to worse when you are pessimistic. Everything I to run on my vista laptop gets screwed up and the error? So this is what i did : Rename the file C:\ProgramFiles\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeVideo. ax to NeVideo.ax.bak and NeVideoHD.ax to NeVideo.ax.bak  Please Note that these files are the root cause for the issue, so you can rename them any which you like it. Life of Pi

Have you read/watched Robinson Crusoe ? No? Cast Away (Starring Tom Hanks) at least? If you haven’t, do it. Both are wonderful and so is Life of Pi. Author : Yann Martel Time/era of story - 1960's-1970’s Type : Adventures Journal I wanted to read a sea adventure and that is when a friend of mine suggested me to read this book. This is a simple tell-tale about the survival of a 15 year old kid in sea for 227 days in a small life boat with some extra ordinary company of the wild animals – Richard Parker, a Tiger; a female Orangutan, a zebra and a Hyena. The book starts of detailing his life as the son of a zoo owner in Madras, his explorations and affiliation to Christianity and Islam. Then when his family plans to move to Canada, things go awry and a sad shipwreck afflicts killing them all. Motives and Actions ...A short story

He entered the village limping; his entire weight supported by a wooden staff that appeared to be in a shape bettered by his own. The sun was retiring for the day and so were the peasants. Young kids returning from school and the children dirtied from the farm work were running around carefree. The police constable along with some young men was trying to force the children back to their home lest the kidnapper make an appearance and abduct the children. Tongue Twisters

Of late, I have been fascinated with tongue twisters. They are quite a challenge, at times they are stress busters or at times they may add the stress load. Scope of RTI Act, India 2005

Thomas Jefferson, 3 rd President of USA(1801-09) and author of the Declaration of Independence says  “ A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine ”.
