As soon as I was comfortably seated in the bus on Tuesday evening, I plugged in the earphones and tuned into Radio one 94.3 FM.Pavithra was running this 'Get-on-the-air" thing and getting opinions on the topic "Given a chance to swap genders, would men like to be women?" and this prompted the below musing (Ironically :0) ).
With "Do Dil Mil Rahe hain' from Pardes running in the background,I took a jog down the memory lane. Boy, I must say, that it was not at all surprising that at more than one instance I have heard frustrated grunts and gripes from my friends (Boys and men) that how they would have preferred to be women just to get out of the situation which led such thoughts creep into their minds. My observation says that their views on this topic have been purely circumstantial.
The long queues in School and college to pay fees, collect hall tickets, some society books, CET forms, movie/show tickets; the reservations in engineering/medical colleges, the preferential treatment in MBA seat allocations, the discounts in tax slab rates and umpteen other such situations, I find men left frustrated and all I could but empathize at most; after all I have been through such situations myself :). And they say, Chivalry is long dead with the gentlemen of yester years ;).
The song in the background changes to "Allah ke bande Hasde". I somehow love this song and put my thoughts to rest.The song ends and RJ Pavithra is at it again; getting opinions on the topic. I try to structure my incoherent thoughts When I see that my cell rings and the call is from my mother.I smile.I realize that every man can but respect women. After all, everyone (almost everyone) has a loving mother.Mother! Yes, as long as there are mothers, no man would object women enjoying the privileges.Probably that applies to wives as well, but I am still a bachelor and hence reserve my comments on that front.
With this, I rest my case.
P.S: I deliberately avoid using sister and friend, some other time and some other article I may take up the cause of sisters and friends.
